Daredevil treehuggers Taking their case to the top, two Greenpeace protestors, Montreal's Steven Guilbeault and England's Chris Holden, scaled the CN Tower and strung up a massive banner protesting Canadian and American environmental footdragging. Although they had to be rescued and were promptly arrested, defiling Toronto's world-class phallic symbol should always be encouraged, and it's even better when a good cause is involved.

Bell Canada Ma Bell is up to her bitchy old tricks again. With their latest customer-screwing move, Bell is forcibly switching all old-school pulse lines to touchtone in August, with jacked-up monthly fees thrown in to boot. Bell says the switch allows customers access their automated services--even though most of the services were available to pulse lines anyway. Ditching old equipment while making a tidy profit is classic Bell monopoly reaming. Irate customers have until July 23 to protest to the CRTC at Comments on Request 6592, CRTC, Ottawa, ON K1A 0N2 or e-mail procedure@crtc.gc.ca.
