Hello, dollies
by Mark Slutsky
Back for its second annual instalment is Poupée exposée, Elle Corazon's festival of dolls and doll-related activities. Anyone with even a passing interest in the critters take note: there's plenty of fun to be had. A 25-artist-strong doll exhibit runs the month of June, with contributions from local artists and others further abroad, like Victoria, B.C.'s Sonja Ahlers and Toronto's Cecilia Berkovic.
There'll be assorted workshops and the like (including a doll-making workshop for kids and adults), a raffle for dolls and related prizes, and a great big closing dance party and fundraiser for Elle Corazon featuring music, performance art and the raffle draw itself (tickets can be bought all month for a measly $2). The exhibit is open for viewing afternoons from Tuesday to Saturday, and all other events will be noted throughout the month in listings. Poupée exposée runs June 5-28 at Elle Corazon (176 Bernard W.).
