Paper dolls

by Genevieve Paiement

If you needed a reason to venture out to the suburbs in style, the Musée Marsil in Saint-Lambert has got it. Their exhibit Ready-To-Tear: 1960s Paper Fashions, which celebrates the short-lived trend that was the paper dress, just might be worth the trip. Strange but true, women actually flocked to purchase the seemingly impractical and exceedingly fragile frocks from '66-'68. These truly avant-garde pop-art creations, part of fashion historian Jonathan Walford's private collection, recall a time when psychedelia was rampant and practicality was sacrificed in the name of experimentation. At 349 Riverside, May 4-Sept. 2. Info: (450) 923-6601.
