Urban dance squad

by Genevieve Paiement

Eating disorders, prostitution, the depth of the soul, lost love and cartoons are just some of the themes touched upon by a handful of dance shows happening this weekend. The kinetic world of dance heats up April 20-21 with Torontonian Kathleen Rea's raw exploration of movement Dressed in White. The three pieces featured in this work have garnered accolades for their honest looks at body image, sexuality, anger, power and helplessness. See it at Studio 303 (372 Ste-Catherine W.), 8 p.m., $8-10.

Then comes the contemporary dance taste-test trio of Les Printemps de la danse. Take in works by three choreographers in one night--all for free! These include Jane Mappin's Les Anges monstrueux, a riff on the terror of a soul in solitude, Pierre Lecours' La Banquette arrière: la présentatrice, a theatrical love story and Marie-Pascale Bélanger's epic tale of exaggeration Héroïdes. Touring the Maisons de la cultures until April 24. Call 872-9967 for info.

And finally, tonight's your last chance to catch Lucie Grégoire's multidisciplinary foray into poetry-jazz-movement, Trajectoires, at the Maison de la culture Plateau Mont-Royal (465 Mont-Royal E.), 8 p.m., free. Info: 872- 2266.
