>> The sun rises on the Daylight Lovers

by JOHNSON CUMMINS

Let me hip you kooky cats to this. Locals Lyle Sheraton and the Daylight Lovers are hotter than Georgia asphalt on the 4th of July and twice as greasy as a White Castle "slider" burger. That's right, Jack, these cats let the fat sizzle with a pipin' hot rock 'n' roll sound that has all the crazy kids buggin' out--check out the self-titled new CD for proof. The Mirror caught up with bass player the Warden and man, oh, man, was it ever a real gas. You'll flip your wig on some of the Warden's thoughts on booze, over-priced guacamole and hot tubs. Dig.

Mirror: What's your worst drinking experience?

The Warden: When I was in Turkey visiting some family. We went into this bar that was this Mexican food kind of place and ordered all of these drinks and guacamole. My friend said he was friends with the owners and said it wouldn't be that much money. We got really wasted and it ended up this guacamole was imported so at the end of the night we got a bill for, like, $200 just for guacamole. I gave them all of my money for guacamole. They threw me out on the street and I woke up when this guy tried to pick my pocket.

M: What were some of your wildest shows?

W: We just got back from playing Chicago, Cleveland and Toronto and that was cool. In Chicago they had this cool party afterwards with a hot tub and stuff. We have done some shows in the past where our singer Lyle Sheraton has lit his arm on fire and stuff.

M: Did you got to the Rock 'n' Roll Museum in Cleveland?

W: No, but I've been to the Soul Museum in Memphis and that was really cool. They had the Stax records drum set there and all of Otis Redding's equipment and shit like that.

M: Is there any resentment over being Lyle Sheraton's backing band?

W: Not really. He is the real entertainer of the group. Right now he's trying to become the mayor of Canada.

M: There is no mayor of Canada.

W: Exactly, so it should be pretty easy.

CD launch at Bar St-Laurent 1 on Saturday, April 14, 9pm, $4
