Performance, projected
by Mark Slutsky
This weekend, Studio 303 and the MAI promise a veritable extravaganza of art--projected, installed and performed. Projet/Projo is ambitious event running two evenings at the MAI, featuring Quebec artists and a couple of out-of-town guests.
There'll be lots to see: installations by artists like Karin Hazé and Fabienne Laserre, performances by Maryse Poulin, Tammy Forsythe and tireless Toronto Super-8 enthusiast John Porter among others, and projections by Sarah Abbott and Eve-Lucie Bourque, to name a few. Also enticing is the show's "lounge animé," featuring a bar, DJs and scratch video by the Lords of Robotics.
The featured artists will all be on site, projecting or performing their pieces. Projet/Projo runs at the MAI March 30-31, with both nights beginning at 7 p.m. at 3680 Jeanne-Mance. The price? Gotta hand it to them--entrance to the show is 100 per cent free, making it your best art value in town this weekend.
