Sexual personae

By Sholem Krishtalka

"I've got a six-foot tall talking vagina," says renowned Montreal performer Norman Nawrocki, by way of explaining his new show, Sex Toys! "I get the audience to sing and dance and do sexercises," he continues. Sex Toys! is being performed as part of Queer McGill's Pride Week.

The show, which has brought Nawrocki on a two-month-long tour of Canada, is a cabaret-style comedy performance comprised of 25 skits dealing with sexuality. "I touch on all the taboos," he explains, "from female ejaculation and masturbation to bi-curiosity and performance anxiety." And whether he's in a rock venue or a university lecture hall, Nawrocki remains undaunted by his surroundings: "I transform any space into my own personal boudoir," he laughs. At McGill's Leacock building, Friday March 23, 7:30 p.m., free. At Petit Café Campus April 11, 8:30 p.m., $8.50, advance tickets available at the venue or through Admissions at 790-1245.
