To the severe detriment of the institution that works hand-in-hand with Herstreet, Stella and immigrant women's groups on a total budget of $160,000 per year, Health Canada has revoked its $27,500 in funding for the centre. Insect >> Face-covering bylaw In another shameless breach of civil liberties, city councillors in Quebec City and Ste-Foy have implemented a bylaw prohibiting any type of face-covering in anticipation of "outlaw" actions at April's Summit of the Americas. Apart from targeting the rights of ordinary citizens--such as Muslim women wearing hijabs--the action seems more of a threat to protesters who might choose to protect their lungs and other sensitive organs from riot squad gas attacks.
