Free tax lackeys

Sick and tired of not having an accountant lackey to help you scrape back some of your sweat-stained salary from the Tax Man? Well, now you can have a lackey too: in conjunction with the Montreal YWCA, Revenue Canada and Revenue Quebec volunteers are ready to help low-income earners tackle their biggest tax brainbusters, Fridays from 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m. through March and April.

"Here at the women's Y we have a lot of disadvantaged people and most of the time they don't get the tax refunds they're supposed to," says Lisa Massé. "A single mother or father working two jobs doesn't have the time or money to spend on filling out their income tax forms, and many of them make mistakes."

The Y is located at 1355 René-Lévesque W. Call 866-9941 for information. The service is available for female and male low- and fixed-income earners.
