Den of dance

by Marites Carino

Floating goldfish, slimy mould and oven racks are not usually part of your average dance performance. But somehow they made their way into Nest, an imaginative dance concoction created by Christopher House, the artistic director of the Toronto Dance Theatre.

The choreography's intriguing set, by James Robertson, is intricately linked with this, House's first full-length production which premiered in Toronto a year ago. The Newfoundland-born House takes the audience and 13 dancers along for a voyage of creation, which features art, text and an eclectic sound backdrop by Phil Strong. If you're a fan, you can meet the man behind the creation in a discussion after the performance March 2, at the Salle Pierre-Mercure in the Centre Pierre-Péladeau (300 de Maisonneuve W.), March 1-3, 8 p.m. Info: 844-2172.
