Celya Lister Lister, 61, of Ville Emard, ran a popular black community TV show from 1992-1997 on the local cable-company-run ethnic channels. But sadly, she--along with 20 other ethnic TV producers--got the axe when said shows were sent to CJNT 14. Rather than pack it in, this Trinidad-born computer salesperson has paid $26,000 out of her own pocket to resurrect her mission with a 13-week series called Hallelujah. The series showcases local black churches and lots of music, including "hip-hop gospel." The show airs Sunday mornings at 9:30 on Global and Lister would be happy to hear from sponsors.

Bernard Landry Even before his coronation, our Premier-in-waiting is already hatching worrisome schemes. In recent weeks his PQ has proposed to slash education, family allowance payments and cancel free dental care for children and the poor. What's in it for us? Huge tax cuts? A slashed debt? No, Landry wants taxpayers to give corporate welfare to a computer-chip factory, pay for sovereignist propaganda and fund a referendum that nobody wants. Not only did more voters choose the party in the opposition than his PQ, voters never chose this short-tempered maple-leaf hater to be Premier. Worse still, Landry lacks the guts to put his program before voters.
