Angel >> Federally imposed fresh air Sometimes there's nothing more appropriate than a sound spanking from big daddy to help provincial governments see the bigger picture. Among other steps outlined in the $120-million federal smog-fighting plan, Environment Minister David Anderson claims he will force Ontario to halve nitrogen-oxide emissions from its power plants and meet other requirements to reduce air pollution. Not even a health department report indicating that 1,000 Torontonians die from smog-related illnesses each year has inspired the province to act of its own accord. Hopefully, Anderson will do more than just talk the talk.

Insect >> Imax Renowned for wasting their 3D screening technology on fatuous, "wholesome" feature films, Imax is now trying to ban theatres from using their equipment to show the new 3D horror flick Haunted Castle, and are banning their independent Imax theatres from screening the film altogether. Imax objects to the PG-13 rating because the film includes a devil character, who film critics have likened to the Cookie Monster, and a 40-second torture scene depicting a prisoner being electrocuted and another dipped in acid (anyone seen Batman recently?). Here's a suggestion: leave censorhip to parents and put your brand name on some real 3D entertainment.
