Glow bunny
Who'd of thought that Daniel Hogue's latest contribution to the world of high art--a glowing, seven-foot bunny rabbit--would have been inspired by both an Ojibwa legend and a quote from the famously difficult philosopher Merleau-Ponty? Strange as it sounds, this scintillating bunny made of Christmas lights is said to reflect the "precariousness of life." Playing with ideas about where fantasy and reality meet, Hogue pushes the limits of pop with his installation, La Mémoire lumineuse, which is part of the ubiquitous Montreal High Lights festival. The bunny is yours for the viewing, along with Philippe Boissonnet's Décentrements, until March 9 at the Centre des Arts Contemporains du Québec à Montréal (4247 Ste-Dominique).
