    >> Video director Eric Gaucher moves from rock to poetry

    by RALUCA STATE

Want to see someone throw-up a dozen goldfish or watch a bear having sex with a helicopter pilot? Then check out some of Eric Gaucher's music videos for local bands like Tricky Woo and Bionic. "I'm a very musical person and putting images to sound is exciting," the 27 year old says. Having completed his third video, for Bionic's song "Mission," Gaucher says musical shorts can be as gratifying as full-length features.

"Music videos are very experimental. You can play with images and sounds and do something extremely creative that will be broadcast on mainstream TV."

Projects for 2001 include a video for art-rock band Mishima and, to satisfy his full-length directorial fantasies, Ode to a Sparrow, a documentary on Canadian poet Peter Van Toorn. Sorry, no goldfish in that one. Contact him at egaucher@hotmail.com
