8bit Studio does digital good
by GENEVIEVE PAIEMENT
"We make videos for people with short attention spans and high-speed modems," offers 8bit Studio's Hart Snyder. His all-digital video production company--co-founded with fellow Covert Ops scratch video collective member Michael Wortsman and more business-minded pal, Joel Secter--is only six months old, but they've already captured a healthy amount of attention.
Since this summer, 8bit's been commissioned by the likes of the CBC (they remixed their election coverage to hip hop beats), the New Film & Media Festival (they made videos of all nine Media Lounge shows for the Fest's site) and the World Conference on Arts and Culture in Ottawa last month (peruse their work at 8bitstudio.com). Upcoming projects include a toy commercial and six new short video series.
"The revolutionary change in video production and distribution, sparked by digital video, desktop editing and the Internet, is opening up the media to way more people," Snyder enthuses. "There's all kinds of crazy video shit on the Web right now!" Contact these particular crazies via their site or call 849-2248.
