For those of you who missed the latest chapter in the longest-running documentary soap opera ever (forget Big Brother or Survivor), 42 Up hits vid stands this month. Director Michael Apted continues the series, with his "14 children of Granada" adapting to the next phase in their lives. Many have now had to face the mortality of their parents and most are dealing with the pleasures and stresses of parenthood themselves. Perhaps most surprising is the young lad who seemed so bright at age seven; series followers will recall that he seemed to go off his head for an entry or two. Now he's found solace in running for public office! This latest in the landmark doc series is not to be missed. On my wish list is the release of the American and Russian versions on video, which Apted exec. produced.

Fox is releasing the revamped original Star Wars trilogy on video this month. Not to miss out on a promotional possibility, this version will include a ten-minute teaser, or "documentary," about the making of the next chapter, Episode II, that includes interviews with George Lucas and returning cast members. This version of the trilogy includes all of the digitally-mastered added vermin and outtakes. No word on why this edition is only out on VHS and not DVD.
