Not a terrorist

Immigration Canada is licking its wounds after its decision to block a local professor's request for residency was recently overturned. Canadian border guards had rejected the professor a year ago based on his membership to an Iranian student group. But a judge has ruled that Immigration Canada was mistaken in its belief that the group Anjoman Islamie has terrorist ties. And now Bijan, who uses a pseudonym for fear of persecution in his native Iran, has a second shot at the Immigration craps table.

"I'm very happy," says Bijan, from his current home at a friend's apartment. "It proves we have independent judges who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in."

But Bijan says Immigration Canada's decision came at a high price. After losing his Canadian work permit and modest salary, he lost his Canadian wife and kids. "It was the worst two years of my life."

Bijan's lawyer says it's a big win for his client and the Third World alike. "It should mean Bijan can get his residency in Canada, despite Immigration Canada's prejudice and insanity about Iranians," says Stewart Istvanffy. "They pretend that what they're doing is to protect Canada but basically they're just trying to keep the Third World out. Immigration Canada is being run by people who don't believe in a multi-racial Canada." :
