these lips

The latest offering at Galerie Trois Points, Paul Lacroix's Lèvres de velours et d'autres qui le sont moins, is as strange as its long title implies. The works in this exhibit are all large-scale photograms done in series; they all pretty much resemble each other, each consisting of a strange blur, surrounded by a field of amber or blueish-black colour. The blurs, judging by the title, are actually people's lips.
Lacroix has done a fantastic job of communicating, through the photogram process (with some drawn elements thrown in as well), the lush sensuality of lips. The fields of colour that surround the lips radiate a delicate warmth which make for a a beautifully sexy evocation of desire. At 372 Ste-Catherine W., # 520, until Nov. 11. :
