New life forms While environmental doomsayers boo-hoo about the extinction of thousands of the world's species annually, a group of Danish scientists have shown those pessimists that Mother Nature is actually restocking her shelves. The scientists discovered a previously unknown type of animal down a cold well in Greenland. The 0.1-millimetre Limnognathia maerski, is one of only four new life forms discovered in the past hundred years. Its most noteworthy aspect is its jaws, used for scraping the algae and bacteria it feeds on from moss. We swear we'll only hunt it for its meat.

Bureaucratic incompetence Six-million envelopes containing federal T-4s were ready to be delivered to Canadian pensioners, when a slight problem was noticed. The wrong toll-free number had been printed on the forms. Attempts to reach the number in Canada would have brought a message that it was not in service, but Canadian pensioners living in the U.S. would have reached a sultry voice offering them "red hot, live, one-on-one sex." Fourteen thousand boxes of paper were shredded, and the forms re-printed at an expense of $1.35-million.
