Hot Bizkits! Only $65.80!

If you were one of those people who went to the Jazz Fest this summer only to find the miraculous absence of Blackalicious upsetting, you may find some comfort in their Oct. 12 show at Club Soda. The Cali crew touched down in Vermont this week for a show at Higher Ground in Burlington. Sources tell me that the Oakland crew will be bringing along the often misunderstood and never imitated Anti-pop Consortium and their ringleader Mike Ladd for their gig in Montreal. On that same note, Ninja Tune, the people that brought you Kid Koala, DJ Vadim, the Herbaliser and Mr. Scruff, have begun collaborations with the world-renowned, artist-owned Quannum Projects. This label is home to Blackalicious, Latryx and DJ Shadow, as well as some emerging new artists. Look for releases from the Germany-based Poets of Rhythm, Lyrics Born and Solesides Greatest Bumps (Oct. 30), a compilation of out-of-print and unreleased tracks from DJ Shadow, Blackalicious and Latryx in a 2-CD/4-LP box set. Big tings a gwan at Ninja Tune Canada.

I'm absolutely certain that all of you Bizkit-heads have already pricked up your ears after hearing the news about Limp Bizkit returning to Montreal. You can join my editor Al Sutherland and his pal Fred Durst at the Molson Centre on Friday, Oct. 27, for the Anger Management Tour (tickets are only $65.80!). Also on deck is the guy whose whole last album was an exercise in anger management, Eminem. He should easily be able to top the last time he was in town, right, Mr. Mathers? Also gigging on the same bill is Cali mic-warrior Xzibit and some guys called Papa Roach that I never heard of. Did I mention that the tickets cost the same no matter where you're sitting? A mere 65 dollars and 80 cents! The aim of this tour is to promote Bizkit's new album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot-Dog Flavored Water ('kay!) out Oct. 17.

Thinking of putting out a 12-inch anytime soon? Want a dub-plate of that joint you produced last weekend so you can drop it in the club? What you need to do is call my man Jack Beets down at the Chopstick Cutting Room, where he'll take care of your vinyl mastering, plating, test pressing and, of course, dub-plates. No more excuses! Press that shit! For more info call Jack at 849-2039.

Bronx native Jason Kibler, aka DJ Logic, makes a practical and sound visit to Montreal on Wednesday, Oct. 11, for a show at Le Swimming. Logic, who was here in the summer with Medeski, Martin and Wood, takes his own five-piece Project Logic on the road after being together for almost a year. The big guy is known as one of the original members of the Black Rock Coalition, and has worked with Living Color and DJ Spooky. Project Logic started touring after a popular regular gig at New York's Knitting Factory. :
