Brilliant group art

The word "brilliant" should probably be used rarely and carefully when talking about art. That said, the latest exhibit at Galerie Art Mur, a show entitled Au-dela de la mode/The Fashion Statement, is nothing short of brilliant. This is a rare group show in which all of the art works involved are exceptionally good. Consider the artistic calibre of those involved: Betty Goodwin, Massimo Guerrera and Jana Sterbak are but a few represented here. The star of the show, for my money, would be Lois Andison and her "Camouflage" installations ("#1" and "#3").

As suggested by the title, the focus of the show is fibre and fabric works (most of the pieces are either installations or sculptures). Don't let the preconceptions about textile arts be a deterrent; these beautiful and whimsical works are innovative and challenging, both conceptually and visually.
