Pierre Elliot Trudeau Arrested for throwing snowballs at a statue of Lenin in communist Russia, picked up by the U.S. Coast Guard while paddling to Santa Clara during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Trudeau was never accused of conforming to the desires of others. He was a charismatic playboy who made it quite clear to his critics that he was indeed smarter than they, and when words weren't enough he spoke with his finger, giving Canadians our own national bird. Before politics was all wimps, dullards and fools, Pierre Elliot Trudeau glowed as Canada's entry to the world stage. He will be missed.

Nuclear money waste Canadian taxpayers can look forward to picking up the $40-million tab estimated for the clean up of Building 220, one of five nuclear disposal plants in Chalk River, Ontario that show dangerously high levels of radiation. Oddly, the same taxpayers' protests of the feds' neighbourly offer to burn off weapons-grade plutonium from Russia and the U.S. continue to be ignored. We didn't think "with glowing hearts" was supposed to be taken literally.
