Angel >> Mobs with a message A glance through history shows that many reforms were brought about by the actions of angry mobs. Disgruntled by the job losses expected to come with the reduction of municipal government, 70 Montreal blue-collar workers disrupted a PQ meeting in Trois-Rivières. While Lucien Bouchard preached his call to sovereignist arms, the 70 made a rush for the conference room. Barricaded doors kept them out, and Bouchard responded by saying "a few thugs" wouldn't intimidate him. Some autocrats aren't as bright as others.

Insect >> Job restrictions Canada Customs and Revenue Agency IT workers who search the Web for more lucrative employment while at the office have been met with the reply: "Access to the desired Web page is restricted"--the same message they'd get were they hunting for naughty bits. Though the agency has denied the ban, a union spokesperson says it is "absolutely confirmed," and believes the agency is trying to frustrate IT workers, who are in the midst of a contract dispute. Suggestion: deleting errant tax files will gain public support.
