Twenty-five years ago, a couple of Montreal film directors formed a collective called Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV), with the goal of better disseminating their work and encouraging discussion about political issues. In the early '80s, GIV morphed into a women's group which concentrated more on feminist issues. In 1989, they held the first Vidéos de femmes dans le parc, which has been an annual event ever since. This year's event coincides with GIV's 25th anniversary and will include a short trailer-homage to their work from 1975-2000. At Théatre de Verdure, Parc Lafontaine, Monday, Aug. 14, free.
