Last chance for summer dance

Dig out a lawn chair or blanket--this weekend is your last chance to see some free dance under the open skies at Théatre de Verdure in the Parc Lafontaine.

Closing out the dance season this summer at the open-air venue is Les Ballets jazz de Montréal. On the program, members of the company present Circle Songs, a work set to the tunes of Bobby McFerrin, by emerging choreographer Shawn Hounsell. This group piece, which has beautiful costumes, explores the theme of the circle. Another piece, clin d'oeil by choreographer Jason Shipley-Holmes, features the company's artistic director Louis Robitaille. Last but not least, there's No Strings Attached, an energetic piece by American choreographer Mia Michaels.

Les Ballets jazz de Montréal is at the Théatre de Verdure at Parc Lafontaine, Thursday, Aug. 10 to Sunday, Aug. 13 at 8:30 p.m., free. : --Marites Carino
