Talk America Radio Network >>It took a U.S. broadcasting powerhouse to save the ears and nerves of Montrealers, but we're grateful they did. As of Monday, boorish radio host Ricky Cyr was off CJAD 800 AM and was instead vomiting his half-witted gibberish to 24 U.S. stations via Talk America. Cyr, who won his CJAD job in a contest at the Fairview Mall, claims to have signed a six-figure deal with the syndicate, confirming long-standing beliefs that the average IQ of radio managers is around 80. Let's hope Ricky is gone from the airwaves for good.

Armed preteens >> With Canada currently ranked fifth in the world in youth firearms deaths, it seems the Federal Department of the Environment is hoping to say, "We're number one!" Proposed amendments to the FDE's Migratory Birds regulations call for a reduction in the legal age of gun-totin' goose hunters from 17 to 12. Child safety experts don't agree that "Waterfowler Heritage Days," from September to March, will be the enlightening learning experience the FDE is pitching it as, expecting the law to put children at greater risk. Duh.
