Avant-garde Laval
If you've ever needed a reason to visit scenic Laval, here it is. A sojourn in the mysterious city to our north may be in order when Galerie Verticale hosts two exhibits celebrating travel and change. The first is Unstable Motion, a variety of works by five B.C. artists exploring transiency. There's the suitcase display by Debbie Elliott, the business card installation by Heather Hawkshaw and, at the vernissage, a live performance by Christian Nicolay about his road trip from Kelowna, B.C. to Laval.
The second exhibit, Tous les jours, collects the diary-entry-like drawings of Lorraine Pritchard, inspired by Baha'iste spirituality and Asian art. Six years in the making, this exhibit also features everyday objects in new contexts and sticks that symbolize journeys through space and time. Until Sept. 10. Simultaneous vernissages occur Aug. 3, 7 p.m., at Galerie Verticale (2084 Boul. des Laurentides, #200). :
