The Circus is coming to town!
Unlike the newfangled brand of circusry that seems to equate with bad new-age music, swoopy "ephemeral" dance and esoterica, the Cirque Eloize is pleasantly old-school. Not that they're stuck in the ages of theatres in the round, clapping seals and glorified pet tricks. The animal-free circus troupe has its roots in tradition, keeping their focus on garish costumes, amazing acrobatics, magicians and clowns. And like the circuses of yore, they play with a live band, in this case the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivieres. After touring with their last creation, Excentricus, the troupe's back home to premiere their new creation Cirque Orchestre which unpacks its caravan of capers in Trois-Rivieres' Parc Portuaire this Thursday, July 27 through to August 13. Tix are $10-28, family packages also available. Transportation and reservation info: 1-800-313-1123.
