Something old and something new

Kicking off the dance segment of the Theatre de Verdure's summer theatre series is Montreal-Danse, with a program that shows off the old as well as the new. The evening's first section features eight excerpts of works in the company's repertoire, some of which date back to '87. This potpourri of choreographies shows the company's versatility through creators like Paul-Andre Fortier, James Kudelka, and Jose Besprosvany. The second half of the evening features entire pieces from the new millennium. If you missed these works when they premiered earlier this year at Tangente, now you've got a second chance.

Local choreographers Estelle Clareton, and Jean-Pierre Mondor, present two theatrical pieces. Clareton's Je ne m'en souviens pas tres bien is a passionate duo, which involves flashbacks and gunshots. And then we get a glimpse into the dancers' minds in Mondor's Theodore coin Adam. Mixing introspection and humour, dancers share their insecurities, thoughts and memories with the audience. And don't forget to bring a raincoat or umbrella in case it sprinkles. Montreal-Danse at the Theatre de Verdure in Parc Lafontaine, July 28-29, 8:30 p.m., free.
