Flamenco, not far
If you're looking for something to do this Sunday, consider this: in the time it would take you to commute to work, you could go on a 35-minute road jaunt to Joliette. It's the Festival International de Lanaudière where all day, there will be music, cultural activities and dance under the open skies.
If you do happen to make it out there, don't miss Spanish troupe Noche Flamenca. The 10-member group injects heat into the summer air with their energetic show, which puts flamenco dancers, guitarists, percussionists and singers onstage together.
The ambiance of this outdoor show will be different from their performance this past spring at the shadowy Kola Note. But it's sure that people will be chair dancing and clapping along again with the infectious flamenco rhythms.
At the Amphithéatre (1575 Base-de-Roc) in Joliette, Sunday, July 16, 2:30 p.m. $11-20. Call 1-800-561-4343 for info. : --Marites Carino
