The thinking man's fuck band

>> Local rock luminaries sing the Brains electric
by RUPERT BOTTENBERG
Announcing themselves as a superdupergroup are the Electric Brains, a six-piece rock-strosity featuring members of Bionizer, Dicky la Rue, 1-800-Avon and forgotten Canadian TV funnymen the Frantics (but nobody from Oddspeed, godly). Despite their pedigrees, they claim this is not a fuck band. Their eloquent vocalist Simon Nixon explains.
Mirror: So why are the Brains not a fuck band?
Simon Nixon: 'Cuz the songs are really good, to the suprise of all of us. I think we were a fuck band, but then we realized we're really good.
M: What exactly is a fuck band?
SN: A band that doesn't give a fuck if they're any good, or if anyone comes to see them play. We still don't but thats what makes it so fun.
M: So what's the E-Brain sound?
SN: I guess the Detroit punk sound is pretty close. Early Alice Cooper is a good reference point.
M: What's with the whole "support your scene" thing? Are you guys DIY? Are You MTLHC?
SN: Yeah, uh, I don't know. That was all Johnson's idea.
M: What about DWI? CBGBs? Charged GBH?
SN: No, I don't think we're any of those. We're more metal. M-Q-H-M.
M: What's this about a tour?
SN: Just Quebec and Ontario, but I've demanded a bottle of bourbon at each show. We're getting $1,000, a two-four and bottle of bourbon at each show.
M: You don't deserve that! Is that because you have an ex-Doughboy in the band?
SN: That's basically what we're riding on, the ex-Doughboy thing.
M: Anything else we should know about the Brains? Bon mots? Deep thoughts?
SN: Geez, uh... It's fun to be rockin' out with your buds--to look across the stage and see Johnson and Andrew, your buds, rockin' out. It's a good thing. :
