Angel >> Richard Desjardins: >> The musician from Rouyn-Noranda is continuing his crusade against clear-cut logging in Quebec's northern forests, with the formation of a new environmental group--Action Boreale. When his film l'Erreure Boreale was released last year, it made a big impact on the province, creating awareness about the environmental effects of clear-cut logging--as well as a backlash from those saying we need the jobs the practice provides.

Insect >> Howard Galganov: >> The perennially inflamed epitome of Anglo angst has shown that his aptitude for exaggerated gestures is far from spent. Outraged at a recent (and disturbing) Office de la langue francaise (OLF) language check at Montreal's Holocaust Memorial, Galganov and a few henchmen recently went to the memorial with a banner showing a photograph of Nazi concentration camp inmates. Across it was printed: "The OLF sickness dares to stir the ashes." Neither Alliance Quebec nor Jewish groups were informed of the event--nor condoned Galganov's petty politicking.
