A dynamic duo

With their current pair of artists, Claire Savoie and Jean Dubois, Le Galerie Skol has one hell of a show. Both of the two works on display are large-scale installations. Savoie's "Quelque chose qu'on croit pouvoir tenir dans la main," which is made up of a huge white cube in which lies a three-dimensional graph, is visually stunning.

Equally stunning is Jean Dubois' interactive installation "Tact." It consists of a floor-to-ceiling metal sheet and an inset circular screen, which the viewer is invited to touch, displaying what looks like a moving pinkish blur. Once touched, the image is suddenly still; it is the face of a woman, pressed against the screen. If you drag your finger, you drag her face. Dubois has managed to accomplish a rare thing: by successfully marrying technology with tactility, he gives the impersonal machine a face and a being.
