Angel >> Montreal's Public Works Department: The city will soon begin the demolition of the tunnel at the intersection of St-Joseph and Iberville--known by taxi drivers and cops as "the tunnel of death"--in the east-end Rosemont district. The tunnel offers zero advance visibility of traffic on the street being crossed, meaning that a driver on St-Joseph who decides to burn the yellow might well smash into another driver on Iberville trying to get the jump on the green. The fact that this has happened so often has given the tunnel its grisly name. Good riddance. Insect >> Mobile Marketing: Technology experts are predicting that we will soon be looking at ads on the screens of our cell phones and palm pilots. These ads might be optional at first, but many users will probably accept them instead of paying higher fees for enhanced services. And since cell phones are trackable, we might soon be getting ads based on our location, as in passing by a Gap store only to have the latest pants sale flashing on our phone. An inevitable development, perhaps, but an irritating one.
