Style synthesis

Local artist Joseph Cernius is partial to shaking things up and bending the rules a little, marrying techniques and criss-crossing mediums. With Fair Play, an exhibit of his latest paintings on now at the Belgo, Cernius sticks to "a hybrid of techniques, including photo-synthesized canvas and overlay paint applications in acrylic and oil" thus melding photography and painting in a haunting way.
