Monkeys! Robots! Pinko freaks!

>> Jon Asencio's Social redefines the term "communist party"

by RUPERT BOTTENBERG

So I get this fax from Jon Asencio, the pest from Pest 5000, former Doughboy and frequent Ultimate Fighting contender. It's about this Social night he's doing at Blizzarts, and it says, "This is a commie event with art/music/weird stuff going on... you know..."

No, I don't! Godamnit! I called Mr. Asencio and demanded that he explain himself.

Mirror: Explain yourself!

Jon Asencio: It's a kind of ambient performance night--a concept. It's our tribute to the workers of the world, a pre-May-Day party for commies, anarchists, robots and everyone else.

M: Pinko motherfucker! When the hell did you go red?!

JA: It's always been kind of seething and bubbling under the surface, because the machines have been oppressed for so long, too. Everyone's taking advantage of the robots, kicking them around and treating them badly.

M: Let's talk about the participants. What's a "Jimmy Brain?"

JA: It's actually Alexis O'Hara, doing her one-woman cyberpunk broadway extravaganza.

M: Uh, right. And Unitard?

JA: That's actually a company--Bendy Wendy's button production empire. She was in charge of making the propaganda for the event.

M: The Cult of Cha Cha Mutata. What's...

JA: That's a secret cult! Can't talk about that! Sorry!

M: And Flo?

JA: That's Flo doing her usual visuals, including projections of chimpanzees and whatnot.

M: Finally, the Electronic Humans Guild.

JA: That's me, my new thing. My commie robot electronic project.

M: So how is all this supposed to help robots?

JA: Well, right now it's not. We're just gearing up for later when we'll be able to hatch the robot rebellion. Maybe in a few months--it'll be warmer. It's too cold for robots right now.

M: I wasn't aware they were so sensitive.

JA: Hey, machines have feelings, too! :

At Blizzarts on Sunday, April 30, 9pm, $2
