Blanc slate

>> Some other Bal en Blanc highlights

Kevin Yost accounts for a mere fraction of the fun at this year's 5th annual Bal en Blanc. Here's some of the other talent on the table, whether they're joining Yost at the main event on Easter Sunday or setting the tone for the lead-up and follow-through nights.

Danny Tenaglia: Hot on the heels of his new Back to Mine comp (reviewed this issue), Tenaglia returns with his bottom-heavy NYC house. Tenaglia's the dance world's answer to Marlon Brando: paunch, posse and personal space issues all apply.

Deep Dish: A Washington, D.C. duo consisting of Sharam Tayebi and Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia, Deep Dish dish out hard house with a distinctly techy flavour--a perfect dessert after the equally dishy Tenaglia.

Peter Rauhofer: Although Austrian, Grammy-winner Rauhofer's not to be lumped in with the uebersmooth Viennese sound of Kruder & Dorfmeister et al. Expect anthemic vocal house, girlfriend.

Alain Vinet: The man behind China's tropical Aruanda nights. He's Marc Anthony's partner at Stereo and in the studio, so regulars should know to expect a refined blend of vocal, hard and tribal house.

Little Eric: A little fella with a big-deal arrangement with NYC's Twisted Records. House in a pumpin', circuit-party vein.

Couch Potatoes: Fuck, these guys are wicked. Sunny, funny house in a live setting, this bunch of locals will kick off Bal en Blanc's main event with a solid dose of good karma.

Stacey Pullen: In our humble opinion, this self-obsessed, womanizing ne'er-do-well from Detroit is one of the best DJs ever, in the entire history of the universe. Don't miss his "intimate" set at Jingxi.

Jo Jo Odyssey: A heavy hitter on the circuit circuit, coming to us from Miami. Appropriately enough, this Floridian is playing at Sleaze II--sleaze being what comes to mind when one says "Miami."

Misstress Barbara: Recent Mirror cover girl and highly-prized export commodity, this local hardass techno maven has more balls than any of the little girly men mentioned above. :
