They graduate! They shoot! They score!

Though convocation should seem like a happy time for students, some of Concordia's graduating class are kvetching quite loudly about the university's new venue for the big day. This spring's convocation events, held in June, will all take place at the Molson Centre (aside from the Fine Arts faculty, whose students will convocate at the Oscar Peterson Hall). "This really sucks," said one student, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "Will they be playing the organ? Will the zamboni be on hand?"
Linda Healy, Concordia's manager of support services, oversees the university's convocation. "This was a way of meeting everyone's needs," she says, adding that the ongoing, seemingly neverending strike at Place-des-Arts has put a halt to that traditional convocation site.
"We've worked very hard to create a good ambiance at the Molson Centre," she assures the graduating class, noting that McGill has held one convocation there, fairly successfully. "They have some huge drapes that will go up. We definitely don't want this to feel like people are in a skating rink." :
