Angel >> Canadian astronaut Judith Lapierre Lapierre She spent three months in a mock spaceship with seven men, one of whom allegedly harrassed her by forcing a kiss on her on New Year's Eve. She says this caused her to become so frightened of the man, whom she could not avoid, that she slept with a knife under her bed. After first planning to call it quits, Lapierre showed that she has the right stuff by saying she will go back into the pod with the same crew, for the sake of completing the scientific experiment. Insect >> The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) This federal government body, responsible for setting food safety standards, will try to sell Canadians on genetically engineered (GE) foods through advertising supplements placed in two consumer magazines, Canadian Living and Coup de Pouce. The inserts will supposedly offer readers "balanced, factual" information about biotechnology. But given the CFIA's past endorsements for GE food, it's more likely that they aim to talk Canadians out of insisting on mandatory labelling and more testing of "frankenfoods."
