Dancing boys

Earlier this month at Tangente, the girls were centre-stage for International Women's Day. Now it's your turn, guys. In its annual tribute to men in dance, this year's edition of Tangente series Moment'Homme: danses gaies offers a scrumptious party mix of dance styles.

Local choreographer Alain Francoeur sets off some sparks with T.N.T. ("trash and transvestite"). In this work, Francoeur, with the help of a gay clown duo, examines the question of identity.

And there's Cardiff's Marc Rees, an ex-dancer with DV8, a contemporary high-energy British company. His creation Caligula Disco looks at the contrasts between private and public life, with flashes of disco, Burt Reynolds and Flashdance.

And last but not least, Daelik's Crawling From the Wreckage, a solo taken from a larger piece for six men, is an exploration of solitude in all forms, whether it be mental, physical or spiritual.

At Espace Tangente (840 Cherrier), March 30 to April 1 at 8:30 p.m. and April 2 at 7:30 p.m. $12-10. : --Marites Carino
