McGill administration a Coke pusher?

>>

So much for student democracy.

Last week, 56 per cent of McGill students rejected a proposed deal to give the Coca-Cola corporation the right to sell nearly all drinks on campus. But the university's administration may go ahead with the deal anyway. They say the federal and provincial governments have chronically underfunded them, and are left with little choice. The proposed deal would put up to $10 million into McGill's coffers.

One McGill administrator says students can quench their thirst off-campus if they object to the Real Thing. But like a thirsty student rushing from class to class, he readily admits politics isn't the first thing on his mind when he buys a drink.

"No one can force anybody to buy anything, right? It's a reality of life. Everybody makes a choice," Alan Charade, Director of Ancillary Services, told the Mirror.
