Angel >> Anti-racism week The United Nations has decreed March 21 (which falls next Tuesday) as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. But a coalition of Quebec-based groups have decided to one-up the UN, making all of next week the Week of Action Against Racism. Events include a conference at UQAM, a film series at the Cinematheque and numerous art exhibits--including a return engagement of Noir en couleurs, which examines the history of black images in advertising. Insect >> Neo-con poster boy Stockwell Day The recent announcement that Alberta Treasurer Day will run for the leadership of Canada's CCRAPers should make for interesting politics. A former bible-thumping auctioneer, Day's social and political views make rival Preston Manning look like a bleeding heart. In the past, Day has denounced gay rights, described bilingualism as "an irritant" and fought unsuccessfully to axe government funding for abortion. Looks like the leadership of Canada's re-aligned political right will come down to the lesser of two evils.
