Camp worshippers will not want to miss Girls Town, the 1959 entry that makes for an utterly perfect video party movie. I caught it for the first time this past weekend, and this Mamie Van Doren film is filled with rich dialogue, bad, bad girlfriends and an inside look at the politics within a Catholic reform school for wayward girls.

The incredibly well endowed Van Doren thrusts her way through the movie, struggling through a stint at the reform school (sent there because local authorities think she murdered her boyfriend by pushing him over a cliff). Van Doren refers to one of the nuns as "chick," continually tells people "not to sweat it," and asks if she can use the "Alexander Graham" (phone).

Beyond the riotous dialogue and melodramatic plot, there's also the remaining cast, which includes Paul Anka, playing a baby-faced crooner who's a hit with the ladies (playing himself, basically). Anka sings his trademarked "Lonely Boy" and even "Ave Maria."

Eyes Wide Shut was panned by a majority of critics, tanked at the box office after a massive opening weekend and was overlooked by the Academy. I loved this film. Judge for yourself: it hits video stands this week.
