Glowing in the dark
Local choreographers Louise Bedard and Sylvain Emard have worked together in the past, and enjoyed it so much that they've decided to collaborate on another production with their respective companies. In their new creation Te Souvient-il?, which starts its Theatre La Chapelle run this week, the two join forces to present an evening of duos. Bedard and Emard's individual styles are distinct but blend favourably in this intriguing performance.
One interesting aspect of this show is the significant role the decor has played in the work's development. From the beginning of the creative process, the two choreographers worked closely with painter Pierre Bruneau, whose phosphorescent works of art were a source of inspiration. Bruneau's works line the stage's walls and background, and as soon as the dancers make contact with these surfaces they leave their imprint as a shadowy glow, which gradually fades with time. At 3700 St-Dominique, March 15 to April 1, 8 p.m., $16-18. :
