Women on Parole
Parole de Femmes, which translates literally as "words of women," has sly connotations of jailbreak. The name fits, since the show features a seven-woman lineup of wily French storytellers--a warm-up for International Women's Day festivities on March 8.
The event will include performances by Edwige Bage, who works with Inuit myths and images, Claudette *'Heureux and Renee Robitaille among others. Renee explained: "My stories are not erotica, but the feeling is there. It's like the show--when it's all women, people are waiting to hear what is usually not said."
This event is one of a popular and unusual reading series called the Dimanches du Conte. Performances at the series will be a mix of theatre, poetry and straight fiction, playing to a packed house at Sergent Recruteur every Sunday.
Listen in on March 5 at 7:30 p.m., Sergent Recruteur, (4650 St-Laurent) free. Check out the Web site for the weekly events calendar at www.DiableVert.qc.ca. :
