Sing along with yourself
Everyone wants to make their voice heard, and in a democracy like ours, two voices speak louder than one. Not that Bernard Dubreuil has any political angle to his Harmonic and Tibetan Singing Workshop, which happens this weekend. He just wants to spread the fun found in both Mongolian throat-singing--which summons up a second, high-pitched harmonic note--and Tibetan Buddhist mantra chants--which also find a second note, only way down there in the bass.
Dubrueil notes that this workshop isn't just for music students and choir singers. Anyone can hop on board, making this ideal for barbershop duos, two-fisted ventriloquists and split-personality types housing both a Simon and a Garfunkel.
Registration, though, is limited to 15 people, so call 285-2050 to sign up, or e-mail caravane@point-net.com. The workshop is on Saturday, March 4, at 353 St-Nicolas #400, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., $50. Dubrueil says to bring a lunch, loose clothes, curiosity and a good sense of humour. :
