Lizotte's beating all in the family

Leo-Paul Lizotte says he's been beaten by police, just like his brother.
Lizotte, 49, is one of the surviving brothers of Jean-Pierre Lizotte, the homeless man who died after being beaten by police in September.
Contacted at the shelter where he lives, Leo-Paul Lizotte says he lost contact with his brother while serving time some years ago. Afterwards, he found it hard to be around him. "I stayed away from him because he was a junkie. We didn't have much to talk about."
Leo-Paul chose not to attend Saturday's protest regarding his brother's death. Even so, he is livid with police over the beating. He says his attempts to get information about his brother's death have been stonewalled. "I'm so much in the dark with this thing, the only thing I know is that he's dead."
Last September 5, Jean-Pierre Lizotte was kicked out of the Shed Cafe for indecent acts, then a bouncer held him while two officers beat him. He died in hospital on October 16 with paralyzed feet and head, but his death was not made public until December. An internal police investigation continues. :
