Triple take

At 51, he's still going and going and going. Choreographer/dancer Paul-Andre Fortier is showcasing a retrospective of selected works from his past 11 years of creating. Originally a literature teacher, Fortier fell into the world of dance in the '70s after working with members of Le Groupe Nouvelle Aire, which incidentally was the second established modern dance group in Montreal. After six years of dancing with this troupe, Fortier decided to go solo and concentrate on his own creations.

On the bill are Les Males heures (1989), which established his name in the world of contemporary dance, La Tentation de la transparence (1991) and Bras de plomb (1993), in which he has elongated arms of lead. An hour each, the solos are performed in separate showings--but if you're curious to see all three in a row, you can do that Saturday and Sunday.

And don't forget to check out the photography exposition at Agora by Nathalie Caron, Yan Giguere and Caroline Hayeur, who all used Fortier as inspiration.

Paf! trois solos at Agora de la Danse, to Sunday, Jan. 23; $12-20 for one performance, or $29-42 for three; 525-1500. :
