Dino drama

by SIOBHAN O'CONNOR

The latest slew of events being held at the Saidye Bronfman Centre seems to have been lined up with kids and their folks in mind. This winter, the centre offers its annual installment of children's festival Artapalooza, with a range of events and workshops to keep the wee ones entertained and outta your hair.

As its moniker implies, the festival's goal is to provide fun artistic experiences that kids can enjoy. And that it does: the events include The Adventures of Emily Bronte-saurus, a tale about the last existing dino and her friends Mia Sparrow and J.D. Salamander (get it?), and San Guo Zhi, which brings together master puppeteers from China and Japan. For the more hands-on-ish kids, they're offering a bunch of workshops to keep those would-be-idle hands at play. Look for a comics workshop where kids create their own superheroes, and a shadow puppet workshop, inviting kids to perfect the ol' bunny-in-front-of-the-film-projector trick.
