Noisemakers 2000: Ascension imminent

Combine the discerning ear of one seasoned DJ/label president with the talents of four local artists whose collective knowledge of music production is virtually unsurpassed. Add one local promoter with enough motivation and energy to fuel NASA projects into the next millennium, and find an accountant whose capacity for time management and budget balancing is superhuman, and you will have Ascend Records.

Although they have yet to officially put out a 12", they already have four releases locked down and ready to go, as well as an album, and they're still ahead of their SODEC grant budget schedule. Founded earlier this year by Jean Michel Cauvin (aka DJ Nivoc), the Ascend label, consisting of PR man Carlos Correal, graphic artist Martin Bruno, musicians Dragan, Alain Thibault, Louis Dufort, Francis Delage and Nuclear Ramjet, plus an accountant, runs like a well-oiled machine. Look for their releases due out early next year. l
